You may not agree with Glen Beck, you may not think he is honest in his opinions, but recently I saw something he aired that I thought should be posted because at it's heart is something that I agree we need to focus on as a country.
This is the IN or OUT 2010 political oath:
Dear Mr. Politician, yes or no:
- I believe in a balanced budget and therefore will vote for a freeze in government spending until that goal is realized.
- I believe government should not increase the financial burden on its citizenry during difficult economic times therefore I will oppose all tax increases until our economy has rebounded.
- I believe more than four decades of U.S. dependence on foreign oil is a travesty therefore I will support an energy plan that calls for immediately increasing usage of all domestic resources including nuclear energy, natural gas, and coal as necessary.
- I believe in the sovereignty and security of our country and therefore will support measures to close our borders except for designated immigration points so we will know who is entering and why and I will vehemently oppose any measure giving another country, the United Nations, or any other entity, power over U.S. citizens.
- I believe the United States of America is the greatest country on earth and therefore will not apologize for policies or actions which have served to free more and feed more people around the world than any other nation on the planet.
If your politician doesn't believe, support or reflect these beliefs in their actions (not the little words they say), then they aren't supporting you. More importantly, they aren't supporting, protecting or defending the Constitution and it's time to vote the bums out.
Mr. Obama, et al.: This is an oath that is coming to an election near and dear to you hearts and pocket books... You CANNOT keep growing government, spend our children's and grand children's money and poking your views into our private lives!
Period!
The controlling liberal party in Japan finally got what it had coming in the recent election! After 55 years (except for a few brief months here and there) it has DOMINATED the politics and governmental landscape of Japan. Going from 300 seat majority out of 480 (Just over 64%) to 119 (less than 25%) in ONE election!
Long time politicians lost control over policy and budget issues in an election with HUGE turnouts. Can President Obama and all those long-standing political icons of the current liberal leaning media outlets be in for a similar fate in 2010? Let's see how similar things really are:
The US media is trying to show this as an Obama like vote for "CHANGE", when in reality, all accounts are pointing at the facts that the PEOPLE wanted change, but change from the Liberal big government environment they had been choking on for decades. Change they have voiced in increasing numbers over the last few years... Similar to the town hall meetings and TEA parties here in the USA perhaps.
Did any of the ousted politicians call the people "Astroturf" I wonder?
Did the spending and big government finally choke the common people to the point where they started speaking out in mass?
Did the "Ruling Class" assume they "knew what was best" too long and ignore the voices of the people?
Did actions counter the words and rhetoric too many times for people to believe the promises were nothing more than empty lies to get your vote?
I have to assume that the people are just as concerned that the NEW government will fall into the "OLD WAYS" and are skeptical but hopeful. Just as we would be here in the USA. But they did take action. I have to hand that to them.
Will our government "Spin" this into some cheap lie about how this vote is JUST LIKE OBAMA and his rise to power? Or will the media finally wake up and realize that "Change" is not something that trickles down... but rather something that is FORCED upward and usually chokes those who have ignored the people!
Time will tell... 2010 is not far off... I know how I am voting...
Usually when I see a remake of a classic cartoon, I cringe. But to my amazement the "What's New Scooby Doo?" series was refreshing. It has all the memorable aspects of the original Scooby Doo, but has been updated to reflect all the new things kids are hip to. Now not that I am up on all the new things kids are into, I still enjoyed the series and the characters.
Also, since Cartoon Network has reintroduced us to Scooby Doo, the art work is much nicer and the colors are more rich which makes watching the show much nicer and fun. And guess what, my kids love Scooby Doo too. So I now get to build memories with them watching the show and recall the old memories of the show for myself.
If you get a chance to watch the new series, I highly recommend it. You will certainly enjoy the time.
Someone's life, their work and everything they stand for are often looked at when they pass. When my father passed away, it was the first and most powerful emotional reaction I had. What did he stand for? What was his legacy? (Outside his children of course)
I am watching the news from all the media outlets and am personally sickened by how people are "Honoring" Kennedy by trying to leverage his death for their own gains.
When President Obama speaks at his funeral, I can be assured that no good "media" spotlight will go unused and we will hear about how we MUST pass this health reform to HONOR Kennedy. Instead of talking about the things his family and friends need to hear, we will be focused on Health Care.
How morally corrupt do we have to be to use someone like that?
Turning the page on filling his seat(s), worrying about enough VOTES to pass something and making us feel guilty about health care debate at a dead person's funeral is just morbid.
Let's Honor him for what he did, his life, and his accomplishments... But DONT turn someone's funeral into a media circus!
If someone would have stood up at my fathers funeral and started talking about how we owed it to him to go ravage his estate, take everything he worked so hard for and split it up for our own gains... I would have PUNCHED THEM IN THE MOUTH and hauled them kicking and bleeding into the parking lot!
Show some respect people...
Most people say, "you have to eat an elephant one bite at a time". Health Care is probably the biggest elephant in the room now and we are arguing about eating it whole with a spoon or a fork? WHY? Only in today's politics can we be so blinded by talk...
Here are some elephant like facts:
The Health Care Bill, H.R. 3200, is combining so many things that it is at last count 1,017 pages long! Another HUGE BILL that few people can read, care to read or understand what they are reading... Double talk, section super-session and interrelation are rampant because this thing is so damn huge!
Lets fix programs, save costs, add people, education guidelines, grant guidelines, tuition assistance... ALL under ONE plan...
Health Insurance and Health Care are 2 different things! Health Insurance is shared risk elective insurance model just like Car Insurance and Health Care is the delivery of services.
I think that most people agree to the following things:
- People need good medical care that wont put them in bankruptcy court in the event of something serious
- Health Care is NOT a right the we are born with, but it IS something that a responsible society should take note of to ensure quality of life
- Health Insurance NEEDS some regulatory changes to ensure that people can afford premiums, and get care for themselves and their family
- Government Programs are running in the RED and need to be reformulated to at least not break the bank
- Stop pointing fingers at people and point at things that can be improved!
Here is how I think we can eat this elephant...
- Do NOT submit a BILL that covers more than ONE topic. This will allow you to focus on details and solve smaller problems one at a time and with more focus
- Stop COUNTING Savings as how we are going to pay for things. When was the last time the government SAVED ANY MONEY?
- Provide a model similar to LIFE insurance for Health Insurance... You buy it for LIFE and at a fixed premium and your are covered regardless of where you work or how sick you get. Employers can then OPT-IN to covering a portion of your premium if they choose as a benefit
- Get COSTS under control by allowing competition, across state borders and within the industry
- Doctors need to be able to treat patients as best they can and stop having to worry about law suites, FIX the system
- Stop allowing politicians to have Special Plans and make them eat the same dog-food their supporters get. If it is good enough for all of us, then you are part of all of us.
- Dont raise MY taxes to pay for others health care, I pay enough already...
- Stop treating illegal immigrants without coverage. They are NOT US Citizens and are not here on my dime...
So, President Obama, Senators, Representatives and every czar that matters... Slow down, work smarter and put this into pieces that we can all digest, understand and agree on. It is NOT that hard see that "Keep It Simple" would make for a lot less finger pointing and get us where we need to be...
Dont even get me started on the additional COSTS... Costs are way out of hand and I dont see the "kids in the candy shop" putting things back... They just keep piling it on and enough is enough...
